World Animal Day 2016
World Animal Day is celebrated to raise the status of animals in order to improve welfare standards around the globe. Building the celebration of World Animal Day unites the animal welfare movement, mobilising it into a global force to make the world a better place for all animals. It’s celebrated in different ways in every country, irrespective of nationality, religion, faith or political ideology.
As a voice for the voiceless, women for conservation celebrated the event through awareness and education programs in Kavrepalanchowk district.
Moreover, injury and death from wildlife attacks often result in people feeling violent anger and hostility against the wildlife involved and, therefore, may undermine public support for conservation. Although Nepal, with rich biodiversity, is doing well in its conservation efforts, human-wildlife conflicts have been a major challenge in recent years. The same case happened in Kavre where a young male leopard was killed brutally by local community members near their farmlands. To minimize this situation in the future, we organized community awareness program.
